All Updates from 0.21 to the current public version 0.21.7.2

After the last update post about version 0.21, I made many different minor updates that first went into beta and released some time later, and I didn’t create a specific post for each of them.

But before I release a new big update, coming in a few days, I just wanted to recap everything up to now. You may have read about all of this in the game’s changelog already, but let’s do it anyway.

Version 0.21.1
– Item images now displayed when selecting items to assign, items to sell, baits to set
– Actual item and shiny indicator in the box buttons
– Images for foods and meeting posters (which can also be customized by pack creators)
– Better monster info displayed in trades and battles
– Region map button replaced with something looking better
– Less obstructive messages when not much important
– Colored background in status screen
– Some graphic fixes

Version 0.21.2
– Massive update for the status screen: More info shown in it, and some of them (hatching distance, PPs) updated in real time. All the monster options are also available from inside it: evolve, hatch, manage items, manage TMs, set nickname, release. The boxes buttons have a new mini button that brings immediately to the status screeen. Loading speed while navigating between boxes and status was improved. The usual long press options are still usable anyway.
– From the boxes’ options, you can set the currently displayed boxes as the default ones that are opened every time after boot.
– Some optimizations and fixes

Version 0.21.5
– The route view is now drawn on screen in a whole different way, it’ll make future changes easier, and that bug where sometimes trainers became tiny shouldn’t happen anymore.
– Notifications have been adjusted and, depending on your device, you might want to change how the monster icon is displayed. There is an option in the preferences. If you don’t see it, it isn’t needed in your android version.
– Cursor will take the direction of your movements while moving, regardless of how bad your device compass is pointing north. It may need adjustments on the minimum movement speed, let me know.
– A bit more info when evolving, showing the full form name (ex. “Lycanroc (midday form)”). Needs to be improved further.
– When asking questions to the player, if an answer is more relevant than the other, relevant+good answers are shown in blue, relevant+dangerous answers are shown in red.
– Status minibutton slightly bigger, and you have many options in the preferences on how you prefer accessing the status screen.
– If you prefer having more pixelated images (without filters) you now have an option in the preferences. Might need adjustments, give me feedbacks if you use it.
– Evolutions requiring TMs learning now supported.
– Some little graphic changes and fixes.

Version 0.21.6
– Some urgent fixes and changes.
– Plus special battle rule for… a certain special species of the first gen!

Version 0.21.7
– Adjustments and fixes
– Packs with bigger size now possible (a new creation tool version is needed, still have to distribute it though)
– Option to mute radar beeps even with music turned on

Version 0.21.7.2
– Tons of fixes

The big update coming next is about both the app and the packs, so expect a lot more info soon. Thank you!

Update 0.21 – Scrollable regions and more

A brand new update for the new year.
Most notable improvements:

– Scrollable region maps –
You can now scroll up-down-left-right your region map to check the other regions nearby, and more than one region away from the current one: currently the limit is at 3 to avoid it being too confusing, but you can let me know what you’d like. Of course any of them still has the usual functionalities: zoom on zone, show rare families, highlight…

– Region maps from badge list –
You can also get a view of a distant region if you got a badge in it: just press the new button from the badges screen.
Any of them still has the usual functionalities plus the new scroll.

– Follow mode in zone map –
If you zoomed the region map to your current zone, and you move in a different zone, the view will follow you to the new zone automatically.

– Forgettable TMs –
Just a new option to forget a TM, if your monster knows one. You won’t get the item back though.

– Pack name as app subtitle –
The name of the pack you’re using is shown at all times under the app name.

– Adaptive icon –
On newer android version, the app icon should adapt to your preferred shape (circle, square, squircle, etc).

– Various little changes and fixes –

It’s an even bigger update codewise, so if you encounter any issue be sure to let me know.
Have fun!

Christmas and New year events

The Christmas and New year events are back!

More updates for the app coming in january! Stay tuned!
Merry christmas and a happy new year to you all!

Update 0.20.0.1 – Background notification, Oreo support

Version 0.20 was out in beta, and version 0.20.0.1 made it to production with many fixes.

Seems identical but when in background displays a notification with useful info about the current route, so you can always see what’s going on even while checking mails or facebook or whatever.

This was added mainly for android oreo support, because without this gps functions weren’t working well anymore due to new requirements. But, it turned out as something everyone would benefit from, I think it’s a great addition.

To those using oreo, notifications are handled visually differently than before, so even if this adds support for it, meaning that the game works, the notifications still look better on older android versions. I still have to try a oreo myself, so I’ll make them better at a later date.

Update 0.19 – Multiplayer Bluetooth Battles

The long-awaited multiplayer battles are available right now!

Still in testing and very subject to change, if you have troubles or suggestions let me know!

I wanted to have two exclusive connection types for trades and battles, but it’s not possible for now, so after you do the usual connection, you’ll be asked which of the two you want to do. It’ll change in a future update.
It should be compatible with older app versions, so if you connect to someone that has not this update, it’ll go straight to trade without asking.

As I said, let me know, and enjoy!

Update 0.18.3 – Hide mode for achievements

If you have tons and tons of achievements in your trainer profile screen, you can now hide whatever you don’t want to see. Scroll to the bottom of the page, tap the button to enter hide mode, tap the achievements you want to hide, tap the button again to exit hide mode.

It’s a little thing, but I have tons more in store for this august, just wait for them.

Update 0.18 – Travel Stats

Finally all the recording the game does about your daily travels get to be displayed somehow! All thanks to a chart library that made the task easier.

As written in the guide:

A detailed chart of your travel records in the last two weeks. Tap the columns, representing the days, to see a detailed breakdown of your whole day in the chart above. Tap the points in your day chart to view the precise values. Remember that you can zoom them in and out with your fingers!

And also, the dex number is now displayed in the status screen, and there are new parameters to use for pack authors, but I’ll talk about them on the pack creation discord channel.
